I work in paint, collage and 3D.
The processing and arranging of selected information begins with looking at photographs of accumulations of objects. This assembled data is connected to my idea of external reality and if I am lucky resonates metaphorically with something hidden inside myself that is triggered by the handling of materials.
Land of Plenty is the title of my current work. A condition that for me only exists as a state of mind accessed via a strong sense of the moment, unrelated to physical reality.
‘Land of Plenty’……….‘explores the contrast between the surface and the underworld, the superficiality of life on the edge. We are not what we appear. Life itself is an abstract that we fill or drain with as much or as little significance as we see fit. Behind the public face there is always tension and the possibility of undefined crisis.‘ Extract from text by Paul Hamilton-Sidcot Arts Centre 2014
